Alexandra Walker, 26, and Harrison Simpson, 22, were convicted of murder and child cruelty after a trial at Teesside Crown Court. A judge described Isabelle Welsh as the victim of a "campaign of violent and sexual abuse" perpetrated by those entrusted with her care.

Simpson received a minimum sentence of 28 and a half years, while Walker was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years. The court heard that Isabelle, previously described as a "happy and thriving" child, was subjected to abuse after her mother began a relationship with Simpson in June 2025 in Thornaby, Stockton.
