The Reform UK leader of Leicestershire County Council, Dan Harrison, has resigned from his position after comments he made regarding staff redundancies were leaked online. Harrison announced his decision to step down on Monday, having held the leadership role since May 2025.

He stated that the decision was made after consulting with senior Reform colleagues. Deputy council leader Kevin Crook has assumed the role of acting leader.

The controversy arose following the release of recorded remarks in which Harrison stated that 76 "incompetent" council solicitors would be made redundant. He was also recorded as saying, "what I want to look at now is the women." These comments were subsequently shared on social media.
