United States and Iranian negotiators are intensifying peace talks aimed at ending an eight-month conflict, as U.S. President Donald Trump issues warnings of potential new strikes. The discussions, mediated by Qatar, saw Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi state that his team presented conditions and proposals, emphasizing that the outcome depends on Washington's "political rationality."
Despite the ongoing negotiations, no breakthrough was announced on Monday. Araqchi described the consultations as "very intensive" after his delegation departed Qatar on Sunday. The urgency for a deal is underscored by President Trump's recent statements, where he indicated that the conflict could be resolved "very soon" and suggested that a pause in military action was an attempt to "save all those lives."
Trump, speaking at a rally in Iowa on Sunday, reiterated his stance on the situation with Iran. The U.S. president has previously commented on the impact of Iran's military actions, noting significant damage to U.S. bases. He indicated that while he wished to avoid further escalation, a resolution to the conflict could be imminent.
