Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, the senior equerry to King Charles III and Queen Camilla, is set to leave his role in the Royal Household and his military service, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday. Thompson will depart at the end of 2026, concluding nearly 22 years of service in the Armed Forces.
In October 2023, Thompson was promoted to the role of 'super equerry,' a position that significantly increased his responsibilities as a close aide to the monarch.
