A murder investigation is underway in Dungannon, County Tyrone, after a man was found dead and a young girl was discovered critically injured. Police were called to a house on Lisnahull Road around 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, where they found the man deceased, the critically injured child, and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries.

The girl was transported to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and remains in critical condition. The woman has since been released from the hospital.

Officers arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He is currently in custody. The Police Service of Northern Ireland stated that they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the death.

The cause of the man's death has not yet been formally established, and post-mortem examinations are pending. Authorities have asked the public to avoid speculation while the investigation proceeds.

Detective Chief Inspector Robinson commented, "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those involved." Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them, quoting reference 564 of August 29.

The deceased man is believed to have been from Guinea-Bissau and had resided in Northern Ireland for over two decades, according to reports. Local councillor Deirdre Varsani described the incident as a "very serious domestic incident" and a "long-standing member of the local community."

A child's trampoline was seen in the back garden as police tape surrounded the gate and door to the property.

Police presence remained in the area as investigations continued, with a terraced house on Lisnahull Road cordoned off. Local officials have urged the community to be respectful of the developing news and to share any information with the police.
