The mother of Javits Frimpong, a 15-year-old Ghanaian boy who was shot and killed in the United States, has traveled to America after being granted an emergency visa.
Doris Adu Gyamfi, Javits' mother, expressed her desire for justice upon her departure from Ghana. "I want justice for my son," she told the BBC.
Javits Frimpong was reportedly chased and shot on his way to school in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday morning. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not yet made any arrests and are searching for three teenage boys in connection with the shooting. An investigation is ongoing.
Frimpong's death has generated significant outrage in both Ghana and the United States, intensifying discussions surrounding gun violence in America.
His mother stated that Javits had aspirations of becoming a medical doctor. The image above shows Doris Adu Gyamfi shortly before her departure for the U.S.
