Green Party leader Zack Polanski has repeatedly reposted social media accounts that contain hateful content targeting Jews and Israel, an investigation by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) has revealed.
According to the CAA, while Polanski did not directly share the objectionable content, his actions amplified accounts accused of promoting anti-Semitism to his 206,000 followers. The problematic posts include accusations that Israel's "Epstein class billionaire backers spend their fortunes on raping, murdering and eating babies," that Zionists are "not human, they are lower than vermin," and that the sexual violence attributed to Hamas on October 7, 2023, was "a massive rape hoax."
The investigation found that Polanski had reposted content from at least six accounts that have drawn scrutiny for their hateful messages. Evidence indicates these reposts occurred as recently as last month.
Some of the amplified accounts allegedly shared anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish control of global affairs. One post stated, "But sure, it's an 'antisemitic trope' to suggest Rothschilds and Israel control the world. What a f*cking scam." Another claimed, "Zionism's capture of the western political and media narrative is so successful that you have to pretend it hasn't happened, or you'll be called anti-semitic."
Further examples of content from these accounts include direct attacks on Jewish people, such as "From the beginning, the jews have been satanic evil colonisers," and dehumanizing descriptions of Zionists as "the ugliest people on the planet" and "parasites."
The accounts also featured denial of attacks against Jews and celebrations of violence. One post concerning the events of October 7 claimed Hamas "mainly targeted the Israeli military" and that "many victims were killed by the Israelis themselves." Another account expressed a desire for "a national public holiday of celebration" if Tel Aviv were flattened. One post appeared to support Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist group in the UK, by stating, "Love it when Iran and Hezb coordinate their missile attacks on genocidal Israel."
Jews were also compared to Nazis in some posts, with one author writing, "The ideology only derives meaning from violence against the untermenschen."
This situation follows a previous controversy in July where Polanski faced backlash for posting an image that appeared to depict Nigel Farage's execution. At the time, Polanski refused to apologize, calling it an "inadvertent mistake" and pledging to "be better on my social media."
The CAA has formally referred the Green Party to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) over a previous "Zionism is Racism" motion. Following this latest revelation, the CAA stated that Polanski is "in hock to extremists" and that the incident provides "yet more evidence that he is in hock to extremists, who are now exerting decisive influence over his Green Party." The Green Party has been contacted for comment.
