Sarah Parker, 30, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, being drunk on a plane, and failing to comply with the pilot's instructions. The incident occurred on July 24, 2025, during take-off from Birmingham Airport.
According to prosecutor Edward Downes, Parker was intoxicated and ignored the pilot's instructions to remain seated. She proceeded to the toilet and then pulled down her shorts and underwear in the aisle, exposing herself to other passengers. The flight was subsequently diverted to Manchester Airport.
"The defendant was intoxicated on the flight from Birmingham in the UK to Florida in the US," Downes told magistrates. "Her behaviour was distressing to passengers causing danger. She was exposing her genitals in view of the passengers."
The court heard that the diversion caused extensive disruption and a financial loss of £20,000. The charge of outraging public decency stated that Parker behaved in an indecent manner by pulling down her shorts and underwear, squatting, and exposing her vagina in full view of other passengers.
Parker also admitted to being drunk on the plane and failing to obey a lawful command to sit in her seat. Magistrates determined their sentencing powers were insufficient and committed the case to Minshull Street Crown Court, where she is scheduled to be sentenced on December 1.
Penalties for public indecency can include fines or jail time, depending on the circumstances. Being drunk and disruptive on an aircraft can also result in fines up to £5,000 and a maximum of two years imprisonment.
