Actress Rebel Wilson is facing prosecution in the UK for failing to insure her £50,000 Audi, according to reports. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has charged the Australian star with keeping a motor vehicle that does not meet insurance requirements.
Court documents indicate that Wilson, 46, pleaded not guilty to the offense and issued a written apology. She explained that she and her wife, Ramona Agruma, were in Los Angeles for five months due to complications with Agruma's pregnancy and the birth of their daughter, Rose, in May. During this period, Wilson stated the Audi SUV was parked at their London home and was not driven at all.
Upon returning to London on May 28, 2026, Wilson realized the car's insurance had lapsed. She stated that she purchased the appropriate insurance under her wife's name before the vehicle was next used. Wilson attributed the lapse to being an unfamiliarity with UK insurance requirements for non-resident vehicle owners, particularly when the car was not in use and not on the road.
The case was initially handled through the Single Justice Procedure and has now been referred to Highbury Corner Magistrates Court for a hearing on November 30. According to court documents, the DVLA alleges the Audi Q5 was uninsured on May 26. The agency reportedly sent Wilson a notice offering a fixed penalty fine, but she did not respond, prompting the criminal prosecution.
This legal matter follows Wilson's successful defamation case against her 'The Deb' co-star Charlotte MacInnes, which concluded in July 2026. The DVLA battle comes months after the Australian courts dismissed MacInnes's lawsuit stemming from Wilson's Instagram posts.
Wilson, who has been married to Agruma since 2024, divides her time between Los Angeles, London, and Australia. She has been in the process of selling properties in Sydney and Los Angeles.
