An Afghan national suspected in the death of a Scottish aid worker has appeared at a court in Athens. Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, arrived at the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Athens Court of First Instance on Tuesday morning.

His appearance in court comes days after the body of Elisabeth Jane Ross, who was from Edinburgh, was discovered in a suitcase at an abandoned building on July 18. Ross had been reported missing prior to the discovery of her remains.

Ahmadzai was arrested on suspicion of homicide with intent, robbery, and weapons offenses. He was transported to the courthouse in a grey Hyundai i30 with tinted windows.
