Zaire Wade, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, pleaded not guilty to felony domestic violence charges during a court appearance Thursday in Pasadena. Wade appeared in court wearing a gray three-piece suit and pink tie for his arraignment, which stems from an altercation last month involving a woman he was dating.

During the hearing, the judge instructed Wade to remain at least 100 yards away from the unidentified victim. He was also required to sign a document confirming he does not possess additional firearms, after authorities confiscated a handgun from his home following the incident. Wade agreed to a preliminary hearing date of Sept. 24.

On June 21, police responded to a Burbank residence around 5:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing a woman screaming. Officers arriving at the scene found Wade and a woman with lacerations on her face and body. Paramedics assessed the woman at the scene, but she did not require hospitalization. Authorities removed a handgun from the home after Wade's arrest. An emergency protective order was issued following the arrest. Wade was released later that day after posting a $50,000 bond.

Zaire Wade is the eldest child of Dwyane Wade, a first-ballot Basketball Hall of Famer known for his three NBA championships, 13 All-Star selections, and the 2009 league scoring title. Dwyane Wade has not publicly commented on his son's arrest. Years prior to this incident, Zaire Wade played basketball alongside Bronny James, son of LeBron James, during the 2019-2020 high school season at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth.
