Vice President JD Vance donned a Dumbledore costume for Halloween, sharing a video on X with his son dressed as Dobby. The costume prompted online discussions and a resurfacing of past controversy regarding photos allegedly showing Vance in drag during his time at Yale Law School.
The images, which reportedly originated from a 2012 Halloween party, reappeared in August 2024, shortly before Vance's election. These photos, circulating on social media, highlighted a perceived contrast between Vance's college-era attire and his current conservative political stances.
Vance has taken political stances that have drawn attention. He introduced the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, which aims to criminalize gender-affirming care for minors. He has also been critical of LGBTQ+ related legislation and terminology, and has previously made comments regarding Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico's sexuality.
