British social media celebrity and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, will be retried on three charges alleging he raped a fan in Australia. The retrial follows an eight-day trial last month in the District Court of Western Australia in Perth, where a jury found the 30-year-old entertainer guilty of assaulting the woman, then 20, occasioning bodily harm in a Perth hotel room in September 2022.
The jury also acquitted Barrientos of choking the woman and four of the seven rape charges. However, the panel could not reach majority verdicts on the remaining three rape charges, leading prosecutors to pursue a second trial.
Prosecutor Danielle Clarke informed Judge Linda Black that the alleged victim is willing to testify again. Barrientos, who is Colombian-born, is currently free on bail and was permitted to return to Britain for several months. He is awaiting sentencing for the assault convictions after the retrial, the date for which has not yet been set.
Barrientos's defense team has maintained that the woman initially consented to sexual activity but later withdrew it out of fear for her safety. The entertainer was touring Australia and performed in Sydney and Melbourne before encountering the alleged victim in Perth. He was arrested several days later in Brisbane.
