Comedy YouTubers Dan Lester and Phil Howell are set to embark on a 65-date world tour next month, performing their podcast "Hard Launch" across the UK, Singapore, the US, and Australia. The tour, which sold out rapidly, is built around the couple's declared 16-year romantic relationship, a revelation they confirmed in October 2025.

However, sources involved in organizing the tour have raised concerns that the popular duo may be keeping a secret from their millions of fans. Specifically, it is reported that Dan Lester has developed a close friendship with a man who will be accompanying them on the tour, though he is expected to remain behind the scenes. Multiple sources close to the influencers claim awareness of this individual's existence for the past four years, questioning why he has never been featured in their content.

"It's really bewildering that they don't mention this man in anything they do," one source stated. "They have been planning this massive podcast tour and Dan’s ‘friend’ is due to go. You have to wonder how he must feel, he’s so supportive to Dan and Phil."

Dan, 35, and Phil, 39, who reside in a £4 million penthouse in London, addressed long-standing rumors about their relationship in a 46-minute YouTube video titled "Are Dan and Phil in a Relationship? The Truth." They explained their decision to keep their relationship private for years was partly due to an "extremely homophobic childhood" and a desire for audiences to focus on their comedy rather than their personal lives. "We fell into it hard and fast in 2009 and here we are sixteen years later. Relationship, boyfriends, partners in everything," Dan stated in the video.

The announcement generated significant online attention, with one fan reportedly commenting it was "bigger news than Taylor Swift getting engaged." The video also launched their "Hard Launch" podcast, which quickly gained popularity.

Despite the public confirmation, some fans have questioned the timing and nature of the relationship, with speculation suggesting it may have been a strategic move to revitalize their brand. Observers have noted instances where the pair have referred to each other as "mate" or "friend," which contradicts their public portrayal as romantic partners. Sources indicate that the pair are currently earning approximately £20,000 per week from YouTube, with much of their recent content focusing on their relationship.

Dan and Phil's professional relationship began in 2009 when Dan, inspired by Phil's existing YouTube channel, contacted him. They met later that month and began collaborating, creating an annual video series that continued until 2018. The pair publicly came out as gay in 2019. Their joint ventures have included the gaming channel DanAndPhilGAMES, which rapidly achieved one million subscribers, and a successful live tour in 2015 that was noted as the largest ever staged by YouTube creators at the time. They also released a best-selling book.

As they prepare for their latest tour, which heavily features their relationship narrative, questions continue to surface regarding the authenticity of their bond and whether their brand has become more central than their personal connection. Dan and Phil have been approached for comment.
