A young enthusiast, known online as Frank and often seen in miniature military uniforms, was given a ceremonial "Eyes Left" acknowledgement by riders of the Blues and Royals cavalry as they paraded down The Mall in London. The traditional military drill command is typically used to pay compliments to a dignitary or reviewing officer.
Footage of the event shows Frank standing at attention and holding a gold-tipped staff as the riders approached Buckingham Palace. As the cavalry passed, the command was given, prompting the riders to turn their heads toward the youngster. Frank then turned to watch them pass, a wide grin on his face.
Frank, who posts videos on TikTok under the handle @frankthesoldier1, has garnered over 390,600 followers. His account, managed by his father, documents his "adventures with the Kings Guards/all things military."
This is not the first time Frank has had a notable interaction with ceremonial soldiers. In April, he received a nod from a King's Guard during a visit to Horse Guards in central London. In that instance, Frank, dressed in a King's Guard uniform, approached the guard, and after lifting his leg high as if to stand to attention, saluted. The guard responded with a nod before Frank performed a sharp about-turn.
The Blues and Royals are the second most senior regiment in the British Army and are part of the Household Cavalry. The regiment was formed in 1969.
