Yankees rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. and Jackie Taylor, the daughter of the late Redskins safety Sean Taylor, have been dating since at least January 2025, according to social media posts. PDA snapshots of the couple have appeared on Lombard Jr.'s Instagram account.
In one post, Lombard Jr. wore a sweatshirt featuring Taylor's image while attending one of her UNC Chapel Hill volleyball games. Taylor, who plays Division I volleyball for the Tar Heels, has also featured photos of the couple on her Instagram highlight reel, which includes images celebrating Valentine's Day in 2025. She has expressed her affection, writing "I love you" in one post.
The couple attended an event for the Sean Taylor Legacy Project in January 2025, coinciding with the NFC Championship Game between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Images from that event show them with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Taylor leads The Sean Taylor Legacy Project, an organization honoring her father, who died in November 2007 at the age of 24 after being shot during a robbery attempt at his Florida home. She has maintained a connection with the Washington Commanders franchise following her father's death.
Social media activity suggests Lombard Jr. and Taylor may have begun their relationship in 2024. Both individuals attended Gulliver Prep High School in Miami. Taylor's highlight reel also contains posts congratulating Lombard Jr. on career achievements in 2025, such as his promotion from High-A Hudson Valley to Double-A Somerset in May of that year, at the age of 19.
Lombard Jr. has been establishing himself in the major leagues since the Yankees promoted him from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the trade deadline in August. He recently reposted an acknowledgment of Taylor's accomplishment of having 165 blocks last season for the UNC women's volleyball team, ranking third in program history. The 21-year-old shortstop is currently considered "day to day" after exiting a game on Saturday with right knee discomfort. Medical imaging has indicated no structural damage.
The Yankees are scheduled to begin a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Monday in Los Angeles.
