A 55-year-old Frito-Lay worker was killed by a stray bullet that penetrated the wall of a Nashville Sam's Club while he was conducting inventory early Tuesday morning, according to police.

The victim, identified as Paris Carlock of Murfreesboro, was working in the chip aisle shortly after 4 a.m. when the bullet struck him in the head, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department reported.

Store employees attempted to assist Carlock, who was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police described Carlock as an "innocent" victim.

Investigators believe the gunfire originated from an argument that began inside Lavo Lounge on Antioch Pike, a short distance from the Sam's Club. Security personnel reportedly removed individuals involved from the lounge, but the dispute escalated outside and continued, leading to gunshots as multiple vehicles departed the scene.

One of these bullets traveled through the Sam's Club exterior wall and hit Carlock. Detectives are pursuing leads in the case, but no arrests have been announced, and descriptions of the individuals or vehicles involved have not been released. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers.
