Harriet Richards, now an adult, has bravely recounted the horrific abuse she endured as a child, beginning when she was just 13 years old. Her sister, Jassey Snooks, a mother of two at the time, plied Richards with drugs and alcohol before forcing her into incestuous sexual acts.
Richards described how Snooks, who was 13 years her senior, manipulated her trust. "Jassey cradled me in her arms when I was a baby. She was the person I looked up to and trusted more than anyone in the world. Actually I adored her," Richards stated.
Richards explained that Snooks used drugs and alcohol as a tool for abuse. "Drugs are a great tool for a predator,” Richards said. “She took them too. She gave me drugs, more drugs and vodka.” The abuse continued for years, with Richards detailing the psychological toll it took. "Nobody else suspected that Harriet Richards, then just 13, was being sexually exploited in the most grotesque way," a description accompanying an image read.
Recently, Snooks was found guilty for her crimes. Richards expressed a sense of liberation following the conviction. "I've got my life back," she declared, marking a significant step in her long journey toward healing and recovery from the profound trauma she endured. The conviction allows Richards to move forward, free from the shadow of her abuser's actions.
