A violent altercation erupted at a California movie theater when a woman, identified by her "Jennifer's Body" t-shirt, allegedly attacked an employee and her manager over a policy prohibiting outside drinks.
The incident occurred Tuesday night at the Regency Theatre in Los Angeles, where an unidentified woman and her boyfriend were reportedly attempting to bring four cans of energy drinks inside. Ruby Arcos de la Cruz, a theater employee, informed the woman of the theater's policy, which led to the confrontation.
According to Arcos de la Cruz, the woman became aggressive and accused her of speaking negatively about her. The situation escalated when the woman struck Arcos de la Cruz in the face. Her boyfriend then allegedly joined the assault, shoving Arcos de la Cruz to the ground and slamming her head against a wall.
"She struck me in the face pretty good. Dead center. My nose really hurts at the base," Arcos de la Cruz told KABC News. She recounted losing consciousness briefly after her head hit the wall.
While attempting to intervene, the manager had his glasses knocked off and stomped on by the woman. Arcos de la Cruz stated that she had to defend herself when the woman raised her hands again. The fight continued for approximately one minute before another manager intervened to separate the individuals.
Arcos de la Cruz sought medical attention, initially going to the emergency room where she discovered her health insurance had expired. The following day, she visited an urgent care clinic, where a doctor had to remove her entire fingernail due to injuries sustained during the altercation.
She expressed disappointment with the theater's response, stating that she felt unsupported by the company and had to navigate the aftermath on her own. The security guard on duty was reportedly on break when the incident began.
The couple involved remain unidentified, and the Los Angeles Police Department is seeking information to locate them. The "Jennifer's Body" t-shirt worn by the woman references the 2009 horror-comedy film starring Megan Fox.
