A woman who was abandoned as a baby has discovered she has three half-brothers, one of whom lives just a mile from her home and another she has unknowingly encountered multiple times. The emotional revelations unfolded during the premiere episode of the sixteenth series of the ITV show "Long Lost Family."

Marie, a train conductor from Norfolk, England, was raised by her grandparents after her 17-year-old mother was unable to care for her. While she had a good childhood, Marie expressed a desire to know more about her birth father, James, after turning sixteen. Her mother revealed his name and that he had visited her in the hospital after her birth, even choosing her name.

The "Long Lost Family" production team investigated Marie's paternal lineage and discovered that before meeting Marie's mother, James had been married and had three sons: Anthony, Paul, and Ian. In a significant revelation, all three half-brothers were found to be living in the same county as Marie.

Anthony wished to meet Marie privately, but hosts Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell met with Paul and Ian. The brothers explained they had lost contact with their father and had no knowledge of having a sister. Paul, who was only two when his father left, had no memories of him.

The reunion took an unexpected turn when Paul realized he commutes to work on the same train line as Marie. He recounted a recent interaction with her, stating, "A couple of weeks ago, I actually had a slightly longer conversation with her." He expressed his excitement at the prospect of meeting the sister he never knew he had.

Marie was visibly emotional upon hearing the news, particularly when told that one brother, Ian, lived only a mile away in Wymondham. "You're joking," she exclaimed, realizing the proximity. The discovery that Paul also lived in Sheringham and was a regular passenger on her train line added to the astonishing coincidence.

"Long Lost Family" airs on ITV and ITVX.
