Elisabeth Whiteley's life took a significant turn when she transitioned from a high-powered corporate career to becoming a stay-at-home mother to four young children. During this period, her dress size increased from a 12 to an 18. Reflecting on this time, Whiteley noted a complete neglect of her personal well-being, prioritizing her children's needs over her own.

Approaching 50, Whiteley decided to prioritize her health, a decision solidified after a hysterectomy and the death of her mother, who had also neglected her own health. Inspired by a friend's transformation, Whiteley discovered the Human Being Diet (HBD), created by nutritionist Petronella Ravenshear. The diet's initial phase, the 'Reset,' involves two days of only vegetables, followed by two weeks of strictly controlled protein, vegetables, and limited fruit, excluding sugar, carbohydrates, fats, and oils.

Despite initial doubts about the restrictive nature of the diet, Whiteley, who enjoys cooking, began experimenting with allowed ingredients. She shared her HBD-compliant recipes with friends, which led to the creation of an Instagram account. Within the first 16 days of the Reset phase, she lost 15 pounds. By the end of ten weeks, she had lost two and a half stone, dropping from a size 18 to a size 12/14.

Whiteley reported significant improvements beyond weight loss, including changes in posture, increased confidence, improved skin, and higher energy levels. She also noted that the HBD helped stabilize her moods and alleviate hip pain. Unlike previous diets, the weight did not return after she stopped the strict regimen, as she had integrated new habits such as intermittent fasting and consuming black coffee instead of lattes.

Her journey continued with unexpected challenges. In spring 2024, Whiteley was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. She underwent surgery on June 7, expressing gratitude that she had prioritized her health prior to the diagnosis. Two years post-surgery, her scans are clear.

This experience prompted Whiteley to collaborate with Petronella Ravenshear on recipes for the HBD Club and co-author "The HBD Reset Cookbook: The Ultimate 16-Day Bible For Health And Perfect Weight." The cookbook focuses on making the Reset phase appealing by incorporating familiar flavors and comforting dishes. Whiteley emphasized the importance of maximizing flavor in smaller portions, using techniques like thickening soups with pulses and making homemade stocks.

Whiteley's journey has led to a new career path, including authoring additional recipe books and rediscovering parts of herself she felt were lost. She now feels sharper and more focused, rarely eating bread and enjoying occasional treat meals as encouraged by the diet.
