Minocqua Brewing Company, a Wisconsin-based brewery that previously garnered attention for politically charged beer promotions, has introduced a new seasonal brew called "Antifa Octoberfist." The company announced the beer's release on social media, stating it was prompted by the Democratic primary victory of Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
El-Sayed, a progressive candidate, defeated Rep. Haley Stevens in the Michigan Democratic primary. Minocqua Brewing Company's social media post linked his win to the release of "Antifa Octoberfist," a German-style Festbier.
The beer's label and accompanying marketing material revisit the question, "Is it OK to punch a Nazi?" and reference Captain America and World War II. According to the brewery's message, the beer "revisists the question 'Is it OK to punch a Nazi?' and references Captain America and World War II while promoting the product." The message printed on the cans states that while "it's not OK to punch anyone, it's patriotic as hell to raise your fist against fascism, reject its four tenets, and embrace the true American ideals of democracy, freedom, justice, and equality of opportunity."
This is not the first time Minocqua Brewing Company has released politically themed beers. In January, the brewery announced plans to offer free beer on the day President Donald Trump dies. Later, they announced a "half-price beer day" in anticipation of Sen. Mitch McConnell's death.
Separately, Minocqua Brewing Company has been involved in a dispute with Wisconsin's Department of Revenue over its alcohol license. The state had initiated plans to revoke the brewery's permit, citing allegations of canned beer being transported from Illinois without the required permits and taxes. However, the brewery filed an administrative appeal, and the permit's revocation is pending the outcome of that appeal.
Abdul El-Sayed has faced scrutiny regarding his financial disclosures, with reports indicating his 2025 household income significantly exceeds Michigan's median income. He has also been associated with streamer Hasan Piker, who has made controversial remarks in the past.
Fox News Digital reached out to Minocqua Brewing Company and El-Sayed for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
