William Fichtner, known for his role as FBI Agent Alexander Mahone in the original "Prison Break" series, has indicated he would be open to returning for Hulu's upcoming reboot. However, he stressed that any involvement would depend on the script and the quality of the storytelling.

"Listen, when we finished up the four original seasons I was in, it felt like we completed it," Fichtner told Decider. "Now, if something was to come along, it would depend. It will depend on what it was and how it was written. You know?"

Fichtner confirmed that he has not been officially approached by Hulu for the reboot but left the door open for a potential comeback. "I mean, never say never to anything. But I haven’t heard anything, so let me know if you do," he added.

The new "Prison Break" reboot, inspired by Paul Scheuring's original FOX series that ran from 2005 to 2009, will feature an entirely new cast. The plot will follow "an ex-soldier turned corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves."

Elgin James is spearheading the new iteration, which is set within the same universe as the original. While original cast members like Wentworth Miller, who played Michael Scofield, have stated they are finished with the character, other original stars may make appearances. Lucas Gage, who is part of the new cast, previously hinted that "we might see a couple of OGs coming back."

Among the new cast members announced are Emily Browning as Cassidy Collins, an ex-soldier turned corrections officer; Lukas Gage as Jackson, a politician; and Drake Rodger as Tommy, an inmate. Other recurring roles include Sam Trammell as Jarrod Boggs, Sean Bridgers as Hollis, Chris Coy as Mule, Kerry Bishé as Mary Smith, Robin Weigert as Chaplain Bannon, and Jean Louisa Kelly as Margaret.
