Belle Geros, an interior expert who meticulously designed her and her husband Darren's new home in Narrabeen, Sydney, has expressed regret after taking him furniture shopping in Bali. The trip resulted in her husband's spontaneous purchase of a 2.8-meter petrified teak shark sculpture.

While Geros regularly sources items from Bali for their home, she described the decision to bring her husband along as a "huge mistake." Her husband, Darren, who has a fondness for both sharks and beautiful wood, immediately fell in love with the large wooden sculpture. Geros attempted to dissuade him, citing aesthetic concerns and the impracticality of fitting such a large item into their home, but her efforts were unsuccessful.

"He said he was entitled to at least one thing in the house," Belle Geros told the Daily Mail. Despite her initial dismay, she acknowledged the shark as a "piece of beautiful craftsmanship."

Five weeks after the purchase, the shark, now nicknamed Bruce, was delivered to their home. Geros admitted that the situation "almost caused a divorce," but she ultimately decided against it. The couple has since agreed on a placement for the sculpture, with Geros vetoing suggestions to hang it above the dining room table. Bruce now resides in the garden, overlooking the beach.

Geros shared the incident on TikTok, where the video garnered over 85,000 views and sparked a divided reaction among viewers. Some commenters found the shark to be unsightly, while others appreciated its unique nature and its placement in the garden. Many users also shared their own experiences with spouses making unconventional home decor purchases.

While Geros is still coming to terms with the shark's presence, stating "it's killing me," she has learned a lesson about future shopping trips. "Lesson learnt, never take your husband furniture shopping," she concluded.
