The White House on Friday posted a spoof on X, formerly Twitter, of a marriage announcement for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, featuring a doctored image with a political message. The fake image depicted digital signs outside Madison Square Garden reading "Trump is your president!"
The post was a parody of the "JUST&T MARRIED!" messages displayed at the New York venue to announce the couple's wedding. Swift and Kelce, who began dating in 2023 and got engaged last summer, held a wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The event reportedly included around 1,000 guests and featured their families, friends, and celebrity acquaintances.
This social media activity from the White House comes two years after former President Donald Trump publicly stated his dislike for Swift. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" in all capital letters shortly after the singer endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. However, Trump's tone shifted in August of the following year, after the couple's engagement. During a Cabinet meeting, he commented on the situation, stating, "No, I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy. I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck."
