Constituency names in Wales, recently introduced for the Senedd elections in May, are slated for review and potential revision. The 16 constituencies, which currently feature Welsh-only names, may see amendments before the 2030 election in response to public feedback. Shereen Williams, chief executive of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, stated that the review aims to ensure constituencies accurately represent their communities, considering cultural heritage and Welsh language use.

The current review follows the creation of 16 new constituencies for the expanded Senedd, which increased the number of Members of the Senedd (MSs) from 60 to 96. This expansion involved reorganizing the previous 40 constituencies and five regions into the new 16 areas. Williams noted that legislation prioritizes single names where feasible, but bilingual options will be considered if a suitable name that reflects the area's identity cannot be found. She clarified that the boundaries used in the recent elections were always intended as a temporary measure, and the upcoming review will begin with these existing boundaries as a foundation, rather than starting from scratch.
