Vogue Williams is preparing to welcome her fourth child with husband Spencer Matthews later this year, but has shared the emotional journey that preceded this pregnancy. The 40-year-old Irish presenter detailed two miscarriages, including a particularly difficult loss a year ago, in a recent account.
Williams described her first miscarriage as occurring very early in a pregnancy, around four weeks, which she found to be "really upsetting." She and Matthews, who married in June 2018, went on to have their daughter Gigi in 2020.
More recently, Williams experienced another loss at approximately 12 weeks of pregnancy. She had shared the news of this pregnancy with some family and colleagues but had not yet told her children. During a 12-week scan, medical staff indicated that the embryo had not developed, despite her body still showing pregnancy symptoms. Williams described this as a "heartbreaking" experience and felt "embarrassed" and that her "body had failed her."
She recounted the options presented to her by healthcare providers at Chelsea and Westminster NHS, opting for a procedure after a planned trip to Spain. Williams stated her desire to move forward and not continue to feel pregnant when the pregnancy was not viable.
Williams and Matthews are already parents to Theodore, seven, Gigi, six, and Otto, three. They announced they were expecting their fourth child in April, with Matthews noting that getting to this point had been "rough" with "more bumps in the road" compared to previous pregnancies.
