Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old youngest daughter of actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has filed a legal petition to drop her father's surname. The filing, made in Los Angeles County Superior Court, seeks to change her legal name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

The reason for the requested name change is listed as 'personal' in court documents. A hearing is scheduled for November 2.

This move by Vivienne is the latest in a series of actions by the former couple's children to distance themselves from the Pitt name. In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill program for the Broadway production of "The Outsiders," where she served as a producer alongside her mother.

Vivienne, born in 2008, is the youngest of Pitt and Jolie's six children. She joins at least three of her older siblings who have also sought to legally remove Pitt from their names.

Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, 24, and Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, 21, have both filed petitions to change their names to Maddox Chivan Jolie and Zahara Marley Jolie, respectively. Notices for these name changes were published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal in June and July, with hearings scheduled for September 14 and September 28. California law requires such name change petitions to be published for four consecutive weeks in a newspaper prior to a court date.

Zahara had previously publicly used the name Zahara Marley Jolie three years ago when she joined a sorority at Spelman College and reportedly used it during her graduation ceremony, an event her father did not attend.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 20, legally dropped the actor's last name last year, changing her name to Shiloh Jolie. Her lawyer stated at the time that the decision was independent and significant, made after painful events.

Brad Pitt's relationship with his son Pax, 22, is also reportedly strained. While it is unclear if Pax has taken steps to drop the Pitt surname, he previously referred to his father as a 'world-class a**hole' and accused him of making his younger siblings 'tremble in fear.' Sources have indicated that Pitt views his relationship with Pax as unfixable.

Vivienne's twin brother, Knox Jolie-Pitt, is reportedly the only other sibling who has not yet formally dropped the actor's surname.

A source close to Pitt has reportedly described the rift with his children as 'deeply painful' and believes Jolie's role in the situation is an 'ultimate betrayal.' However, other sources have defended Pitt, asserting he is not an absent father and desires a relationship with his children.

Pitt and Jolie, once a prominent Hollywood couple known as 'Brangelina,' welcomed six children during their relationship. Their marriage, which began with their union in 2014, ended after a contentious eight-year divorce battle that was finalized in 2024, following a reported plane incident in 2016 and allegations of abuse, which Pitt has denied. The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services cleared Pitt of physical abuse allegations.
