Vice President Kamala Harris attended the Los Angeles Sparks' 102-87 victory over the Chicago Sky on July 10, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena. Following the game, Harris addressed the team, with her speech being described by critics as uninspired and repetitive.
During the game, Harris was interviewed on the broadcast, where she discussed the athleticism and ambition of the WNBA players. "You are having an incredible impact," Harris told the team. "People of every gender, background and race watch the W… You guys are impacting people who you may never meet, who may never know your names or mine, but they are aware of what you’re doing."
She continued, stating that the players were providing a "sense of their value and their dignity and what they have a right to expect in this world." Harris concluded her remarks by congratulating the team on their game and "the path that you guys are charting."
The WNBA has a history of player and league engagement with political figures and causes. Teams like the Seattle Storm have previously endorsed Democratic politicians, and WNBA players were involved in advocating for the ousting of a former Republican owner. The league has also recognized figures such as Governor Tim Walz.
In May 2024, Vice President Harris and President Joe Biden hosted the WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces at the White House.
