A Las Vegas sportsbook employee is in custody after an alleged attempt to rob his workplace resulted in his quick identification and arrest. The newly hired employee reportedly threatened staff with a knife and stole approximately $28,000 from the William Hill Sportsbook at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas last week.

Surveillance footage from the casino is said to have played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. According to reports, cameras captured the employee entering a casino restroom without a disguise before the robbery and exiting the same restroom wearing a mask. Investigators were reportedly able to identify the suspect within about 12 minutes of reviewing the footage.

Adding to the unraveling of the alleged plan, the employee reportedly returned for his next scheduled shift at the sportsbook the following day. He is also said to have brought a backpack containing the knife, the mask, and most of the stolen money back to the property.

Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or announced specific charges. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has not independently confirmed the details of the case, and Virgin Hotels declined to provide further information. No one was injured during the alleged incident. In Nevada, robbery is classified as a category B felony, carrying a potential prison sentence of two to 15 years, with additional penalties possible for the use of a deadly weapon.
