The family of Vice President JD Vance has welcomed their fourth child, a boy named Alec Neel Vance. The announcement came with the release of the first family photos on social media.

Second Lady Usha Vance shared the news, posting three images of the young family. "Thank you for all the good wishes as we settle into life as a family of six," she wrote. The photos depicted the family of six, including their older children Ewan, 9, Vivek, 6, and Mirabel, 4, along with newborn Alec.

Alec Neel Vance was born on Sunday, July 19, at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. His birth marks a significant historical event, as it is the first time in 156 years that a child has been born to a sitting Vice President while in office. The last comparable event occurred in 1870, when Schuyler Colfax, Vice President under Ulysses S. Grant, and his wife welcomed a son.

Former President Donald Trump offered congratulations on social media, sharing an initial photo of the newborn. The Vance family had announced they were expecting their fourth child in January. In his memoir, Vance wrote that a decision against having more children due to public life pressures was changed after the assassination of a close friend, Charlie Kirk, last fall. Usha Vance stated that her mindset had already begun to shift towards the possibility of another child.
