Vice President JD Vance marked America's 250th anniversary by addressing patriotic sailors aboard the USS Kearsarge in New York City during the Sail4th 250 event. Vance thanked President Trump for what he described as "reviving this proud Naval tradition."
"It is a very American thing to ring in 250 years of American history by parading our naval and air force might for the world to see," Vance stated, with the New York Harbor as his backdrop. He continued, "Today we celebrate 250 years of America facing the future without fear." Vance also noted, "We celebrate 250 years of proving what a free people can achieve by the providence of our Almighty Creator."
During his remarks, Vance acknowledged the hot weather, joking that his speechwriters had prepared a "9-hour address." The event on Saturday was part of the International Naval Review.
