The U.S. dollar experienced a sharp decline against the Japanese yen on Monday, following confirmations of market intervention by both the United States and Japan. Prior to late last week, the dollar had been trading above 163 yen, reaching a 40-year high. Following suspected intervention by regulators, the exchange rate dropped below 160 yen.
Early Monday, after the intervention was officially announced, the dollar fell approximately 1% to trade at 156.34 yen. This marks a substantial shift in the currency's valuation.
