Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto, the second time the building has been targeted this year. No one was injured in the incident, though a single shell casing was recovered and damage was sustained to the building's facade, according to Toronto deputy chief Frank Barredo.

A high-speed chase lasting an hour ensued following the shooting, but no arrest was made. Barredo stated that the search for the individual or individuals responsible is ongoing.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow described the shooting as a "brazen attack" and vowed that authorities would apprehend those responsible.

The U.S. Consulate was previously targeted on March 10, when two suspects allegedly fired multiple shots at the building before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. In June, police arrested 18-year-old Sheldon Tracy-Stewart and 19-year-old Zara Jabbi in connection with the March incident, charging them with multiple offenses that have not yet been tested in court.

Following the March shooting, a police presence was established at the consulate. At the time of Monday's incident, a police cruiser was present outside the building with its lights activated, and two security personnel were inside. Police have not ruled out a connection between the two consulate shootings, and Barredo indicated that investigators would follow the evidence to its conclusions.
