Degree courses with some of the UK’s least successful employment outcomes are reportedly targeting students during the upcoming A-level Results Day Clearing period. New analysis indicates that nearly a quarter of graduates from the worst-performing course groupings were unemployed five years after graduation.
For those graduates who did find employment, the median salary was approximately £24,900. The analysis identified 20 course groupings with particularly poor employment records; all of these had at least one in six graduates out of work, and five had median salaries below £25,000. This situation arises as many students accumulate over £50,000 in debt from their degrees, with annual tuition fees exceeding £9,000 for three years.
The Daily Mail has initiated a poll to gauge public opinion on whether university remains a worthwhile financial investment in light of these findings.
