Multiple drones were detected flying over restricted military airspace at Williamtown RAAF base, a tactical fighter jet defence hub in Australia, between July 11 and July 13. Australian Defence Force officials stated they are still working to identify who operated the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and the reason behind the breaches.

A Defence spokesman confirmed awareness of the UAS operating in the vicinity of Newcastle Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown. He added that the Defence Force employs robust, layered security measures to protect its personnel, establishments, and capability. For operational security reasons, the spokesman declined to comment on specific arrangements or measures in place at the establishment.
