A senior reporter has criticized the British justice system, stating that two murders could have been prevented if the perpetrator had been apprehended sooner. Simon Levy was convicted of killing two mothers, but had remained free for seven years after being identified by assault victims in 2018.
According to Nick Fagge, a senior reporter for the Daily Mail, Levy's case is particularly disturbing because his crimes were preventable. Despite being identified by women he assaulted in 2018, Levy was not taken into custody and went on to commit further violent offenses, ultimately resulting in the deaths of two mothers. Fagge argued that had authorities acted on the earlier identifications, the victims would still be alive today. The trial highlighted what Fagge described as a failure within the British justice system to act decisively on information that could have prevented further harm.
