Two Chicago police officers were shot and wounded during a traffic stop incident on the city's South Side. The officers' ballistic vests stopped the bullets, preventing more serious injury. A suspect, identified as Malik Wrightsell, allegedly fired at the officers during a struggle.
The shooting occurred during a holiday weekend in Chicago that also saw 3 people killed and 16 others injured in separate incidents across the city. Details about the other weekend violence were not immediately available but are being investigated by the Chicago Police Department.
