Two individuals in Great Britain have each won £1 million in the lottery, with a third ticket holder having only days to come forward to claim their prize. Allwyn, the operator of the UK's Lotto, confirmed that the two winners matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball in separate draws.
One winning ticket was purchased in Wakefield for a draw on August 5, and another was sold in Aberdeenshire for a draw on August 8. Both players have come forward to claim their winnings. According to Lynn Devlin, winner’s experience lead at Allwyn, the lump sums will be paid out after validation through appointments with Allwyn Winners' Advisers. The winners will then have the option to decide whether to go public with their news.
A third £1 million prize, won from a EuroMillions ticket purchased in Hartlepool for a draw on March 13, remains unclaimed. The deadline for this winner to come forward is September 9, approximately two weeks from the announcement date.
August has been a significant month for Lotto players, with 20 new millionaires created, adding to the 120 made over the year to date. Allwyn stated they are excited to support these winners as they begin new chapters in their lives.
