Former President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he would keep Todd Blanche as Acting Attorney General if the Senate fails to confirm his nomination, directly addressing opposition from Republican Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis.

Trump expressed his intention on his social media platform, Truth Social, indicating that if Cornyn and Tillis do not approve Blanche for the position, Blanche will remain in his current acting capacity. Trump cited the senators' alleged opposition stemming from his non-endorsement of their campaigns, noting that both had recently faced electoral challenges or stepped down.

"If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G.," Trump wrote.

Trump also indicated he would continue to push for the passage of an "Anti-Weaponization Bill," which he stated would address issues faced by individuals he claims have been mistreated by the current administration. He described Blanche as a "voice of reason" regarding this legislation.

According to the notes, Senators Cornyn and Tillis have expressed opposition to Blanche's full confirmation, partly due to the proposed $1.776 billion Anti-Weaponization Bill initiative. Senator Tillis announced in June 2025 that he would not seek reelection. Trump had previously endorsed Cornyn's primary opponent in Texas.
