During an event promoting women's health, President Donald Trump diverted from the stated purpose of the ceremony to discuss renovations and aesthetic features of the White House.
While speaking at a White House event to sign an executive order on advancing women's health, Trump paused to comment on the newly installed white stone patio in the Rose Garden. He described the patio as "so beautiful" and remarked that many women had ruined their shoes on the previous surface, which he characterized as a "swamp."
Trump then turned his attention to the seating in the Rose Garden, noting the "beautiful yellow cushions" that he said were specially made and were "a lot more comfortable" than before. He also pointed to the White House helipad and mentioned what he described would be the "greatest" ballroom-military complex ever constructed.
Before concluding his tangent, the president circled back to his wife, Melania Trump, whom he credited with conceiving the idea for a new division focused on women's health at the National Institutes of Health.
