President Trump visited a General Motors testing facility in Milford, Michigan, on Monday, where he promoted his administration's tariffs on imported automobiles and asserted that his policies have revitalized the American auto industry. Speaking to autoworkers, Trump claimed he has done more for the industry than their parents.

During his remarks, Trump focused on the impact of his 25% tariff on foreign-made cars, stating, “It’s amazing what tariffs will do for General Motors.” He added that General Motors is experiencing its best year. Trump characterized his trade policy as "America first," acknowledging that "the rest of the world doesn’t love me" due to the tariffs.

The president's visit to the swing state aimed to underscore his economic achievements ahead of the midterm elections. He told the crowd that the auto industry is "is back" under his leadership.

Trump also shared a personal anecdote about his father, Fred Trump, who he said would purchase a new Cadillac every two years, describing it as a symbol of luxury. The president noted that the presidential limousine, known as The Beast, is built at the GM factory in Milford, and that the government has purchased several hundred Cadillac Escalades for use by the Secret Service.

The event included a tour of the facility where Trump signed a white Corvette, custom-made to commemorate America's 250th birthday. He also sat in a metallic blue Cadillac.

Protesters briefly interrupted Trump's speech, which he attributed to "the communists."
