Trump to Meet Gulf Leaders on Iran War Strategy at UN Assembly

President Trump is expected to convene with leaders from several Gulf nations next week in New York to discuss the ongoing war with Iran and the administration's postwar strategy. The meeting is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sources familiar with the discussions, as reported by Axios, indicate that foreign ministers or leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman are anticipated to attend. The gathering could potentially be expanded to include other Arab and Muslim leaders.
The conflict with Iran has significantly impacted the Gulf states, with their military bases and economies facing disruptions from Iranian missile and drone attacks, as well as fallout from the volatile oil and natural gas export markets.
The Trump administration's long-term strategy for Iran is reportedly not slated for finalization until after the November midterm elections. However, the president has recently suggested that the war could conclude soon after the fall contests. Vice President JD Vance echoed this sentiment earlier in the week, indicating that the seven-month-old conflict would enter a "much different phase in a couple of months."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also reportedly seeking a meeting with President Trump during his time in New York for the UN General Assembly, though no date has been confirmed.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
