President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, where he will join FIFA President Gianni Infantino to present the World Cup trophy to the winning team.

Trump's presence at the sporting event is set to coincide with the final match on Sunday. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed their joint appearance, stating they would "be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together."

This marks Trump's first attendance at a World Cup match. He was previously honored with the FIFA Peace Prize at the World Cup final draw in December. Infantino and Trump previously collaborated on a trophy presentation for the FIFA Club World Cup final at the same New Jersey stadium in 2025.

FOX World Cup announcer John Strong acknowledged the polarizing nature of Trump's public appearances. "Certainly when it comes to President Trump, there are no neutral opinions," Strong said. "But that means there are a lot of people in the audience who are super excited to see him at the game, and there are going to be a lot of people in the audience who maybe are less thrilled to have him on their TV screen."

Strong added that his role would be to "play it down the middle and acknowledge the fact that the United States president being engaged with the sport, being at the game, that’s a fun, unique thing." He expressed a desire for the event not to be overshadowed by the sport itself, while recognizing the divided reactions his presence might elicit.

Trump's attendance follows his participation in other recent high-profile sporting events, including Game 3 of the NBA Finals and hosting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House. An IndyCar race is also scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. next month.

Earlier in the tournament, Trump became involved in a controversy regarding a red card suspension for Folarin Balogun of Team USA, which he requested FIFA review. Balogun was later cleared to play in a Round of 16 match. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also seen attending the U.S. Men's National Team's opening game.
