Former President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged the wedding of pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce on Saturday, using the occasion to promote his own political message.

Minutes after the couple reportedly tied the knot, an image appeared on the White House's official X account depicting altered billboards outside New York City's Madison Square Garden, where the ceremony was held. The AI-edited message on the billboard read, "Trump is your president."

The post on X, captioned "It’s been a long time coming…," a phrase associated with Swift's Eras Tour promotion, coincided with Trump's travel aboard Air Force One to South Dakota. The image of the altered billboard was shared shortly after Swift and Kelce announced their marriage with a "JUST&T MARRIED!" display on a billboard in front of Madison Square Garden.

This is not the first instance of friction between Trump and Swift. In 2018, Swift endorsed a Democratic opponent, stating Senator Marsha Blackburn was "Trump in a wig." Trump responded at the time by saying he liked her music "about 25 percent less now."

Later, when asked about Swift's relationship with Kelce, Trump expressed skepticism, stating, "I wish the best for both of them. I hope they enjoy their life, maybe together, maybe not — most likely not."

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump asserted that Swift could not endorse Biden because he was responsible for the Music Modernization Act, which he claimed benefited Swift and other artists. Swift's subsequent endorsement of Kamala Harris reportedly prompted Trump to write on social media, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

In the summer of 2025, Trump again criticized Swift, referring to her as a "Woke singer" and claiming she was "booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT." He contrasted this with actress Sydney Sweeney, whom he described as a registered Republican with the "'HOTTEST' ad out there."

However, in August 2025, when questioned about Swift and Kelce's engagement, Trump's tone softened. He called Kelce "a great player" and "a great guy," and Swift "a terrific person," wishing them "a lot of luck."

The White House's social media activity on Saturday occurred as Trump traveled to Mount Rushmore to commence events for America's 250th birthday. This celebration is part of a broader initiative organized by Freedom 250, a group established by Trump via executive order in January 2025 to oversee the nation's 250th birthday festivities.
