President Donald Trump announced Wednesday his nomination of Heidi Overton, currently the deputy assistant for domestic policy, to serve as the next commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Overton, a physician, has been described by Trump as a "ROCKSTAR" in his administration. Trump stated on social media that Overton's priorities would be "putting AMERICA FIRST, and creating a HEALTHY AMERICA."

Overton's background includes a focus on pro-life issues. The White House Domestic Policy Council is where Overton has served as deputy director. An image shows Overton during an executive order signing in the Oval Office in August 2026.
