Official documents indicate that U.S. President Donald Trump generated substantial income in 2025, largely through settlements from lawsuits against media organizations and social media platforms. These legal actions resulted in over $86 million in payouts.

The largest single settlement came from Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. Meta paid Trump $24.5 million to resolve a lawsuit concerning the suspension of his accounts following the events of January 6, 2021. Similar lawsuits against Paramount, owner of CBS News, and ABC News each resulted in settlements of $16 million.

Additionally, Trump received $22 million from YouTube to settle a case regarding his account suspension on that platform after the 2021 riots. A payment of $8 million was also made to Trump by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of X (formerly Twitter), following Trump's ban from the platform. The disclosure documents do not specify the intended use for the funds from the X settlement.

According to the filings, the net proceeds from the lawsuits against the media companies are designated for the Trump presidential library. The funds received from the YouTube settlement are earmarked for the trust that manages the National Mall in Washington D.C.

Beyond these legal settlements, financial documents released in July 2026 also showed significant activity related to Nvidia stock. Between January 2025 and July 2026, there were instances of stock purchases on behalf of President Trump. Notably, over $5 million in Nvidia stock was bought in August 2025, shortly after Nvidia agreed to pay 25% revenue on H20 chip sales to China. Further stock purchases, totaling over $500,000, were made on behalf of Trump in late 2025, around the time he announced that H200 chips could be sold to China.
