A dispute over an alleged $5.6 million donation has escalated into a White House-involved inquiry, drawing in former Trump lawyer Alina Habba and former diplomat Ric Grenell.
Habba has accused Grenell of failing to transfer the substantial sum, which her husband claims was intended for a Washington arts center. Grenell has denied these allegations. The matter has reportedly reached the desk of former President Donald Trump, who has directed White House counsel Will Scharf to investigate. "Take this seriously, figure it out, and come back to me ASAP," Trump told Scharf, according to reports.
The funds in question were allegedly earmarked for the Kennedy Center. Habba's husband and Grenell reportedly met at the Kennedy Center last year. Habba and her husband were married in a significant ceremony last month.
The feud highlights internal tensions and has led to a probe into the handling of significant financial contributions.
