During a recent rally in Mississippi, Donald Trump was interrupted by a heckler who vocally criticized one of his signature projects: a controversial White House ballroom. As Trump spoke, the unidentified protester yelled, “Shove that ballroom up your fat ass!”
Trump reacted swiftly, telling the individual, “Go home!” Security personnel then escorted the heckler from the event. Trump also reiterated a past claim, asserting without evidence that the protester had been paid to disrupt the rally.
The White House ballroom project has been a focal point for Trump, who reportedly ordered the demolition of the entire East Wing of the White House to make way for the massive structure. The project is expected to significantly dwarf the main White House residence.
Initial reports indicated the ballroom would cost $200 million and be funded entirely by donations. However, more recent assessments suggest the cost has escalated to $600 million, with approximately half of that amount being funded by taxpayers. Legal challenges have previously slowed the project, but the Supreme Court has allowed construction to proceed for the time being.
The president has frequently highlighted the ballroom in his speeches and on social media. Earlier this year, he was observed gazing out a window at the construction site during a meeting with oil executives, remarking, “Wow, what a view.”
The White House has stated that the ballroom is scheduled to be completed before the end of Trump's term in January 2029.
