Canton, Ohio – The Pro Football Hall of Fame hosted Nick Adams, a special presidential envoy for tourism during the Trump administration, as part of a White House effort to promote key American landmarks and boost both domestic and international visitation.
Adams, who described his role as a "brand ambassador for America," visited the Hall of Fame campus to highlight its potential as a global tourist destination. The visit coincided with the recent enshrinement of the latest class of Hall of Famers and the anticipation of the upcoming football season.
"We believe in looking for places that we can really amplify and drive both domestic and international visitation to," Adams stated. He emphasized the administration's strong connection to sports, noting President Trump's personal enthusiasm for athletics and the broader engagement of other administration officials.
The initiative aims to draw more visitors to attractions like the Pro Football Hall of Fame, drawing parallels to how other nations employ ministers of tourism. The NFL itself is expanding its global presence with games scheduled in multiple countries this season, including Australia, Brazil, England, Germany, France, and Mexico.
The Hall of Fame, which tracks the origins of its visitors, reports that international guests represent the 17th largest segment among visitors from 52 locations, which include all 50 states, Washington D.C., and international locales. The most frequent visitors hail from Pennsylvania, followed by New York, Illinois, Texas, and Michigan.
Significant expansion is underway at the Hall of Fame Village. The second phase of development, expected to be completed by next March, will include a 100,000-square-foot water park and at least three new restaurants, complementing the existing museum, stadium, and other athletic fields.
"The entire village project was built strategically around the museum to give an opportunity for folks to stay and play longer, to have things to do, restaurants to go to, engagement opportunities to elongate their stay," said Anne Graffice, Executive Vice President of the Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment.
Adams indicated his commitment to supporting the Hall of Fame's expansion efforts, stating, "I'm already setting up meetings to support the expansion. I'll be working hard to increase their visibility."
Rich Desrosiers, Chief Communications and Content Officer for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, expressed gratitude for the visit, stating, "We were honored to welcome Ambassador Adams to the museum that celebrates this country's most popular sport."
